An extra-ordinary meeting of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League was convened at its central office Srinagar which was chaired by senior Hurriyat Leader and PL Acting Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. While addressing the get-together Waza said that solution of the Kashmir dispute is only possible through meaningful and result-oriented tripartite talks. Kashmir is a political dispute, which needs to be resolved politically, and Peoples League wanted a permanent and sustainable solution of the dispute. “If India and Pakistan keep talking only with each other, they can not achieve any breakthrough. Kashmiris have bear the brunt of animosity between them. They are the principal party to the dispute and the two countries have to talk to them to achieve a lasting and amicable solution,” Waza said. “Triangular dialogue paves way for constructive tripartite dialogue and added that Peace cannot be restored in the entire region until Kashmir dispute is resolved, even war on terror would not achieve its goals without the solution of Kashmir conflict”, he maintained. Waza demands withdrawal of Indian troops from town and villages, release of all prisoners and repeal of all draconian laws including Disturbed Areas Act, Public Safety Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act.
Waza appealed to the global supremacies to use their moral and political influence to help resume the peace process for a just and honorable settlement of the Kashmir dispute and to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable right of self-determination.
