Kashmiris urged to observe India’s Republic Day as black day

Srinagar, January 22 Jammu Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyet Conference, has appealed to the Kashmiri people to observe India’s Republic Day on the 26th January as black day.

The Chairman,JKPL , Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, while addressing an extraordinary meeting of the party in Islamabad town, said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been fighting for their right to self-determination and Indian Republic Day had no relevance in Kashmir. He said, we don’t want to hurt the sentiments of Indian people, but there is no other option to show our anger.

He deplored that India claimed to be the largest democracy of the world, but it had usurped the freedom of Kashmiri people so it had no justification to celebrate its Republic Day. He also castigated the puppet administration for subjecting people to harassment and intimidation in the name of so-called security measures. He said that the whole occupied territory had been turned into a military garrison and people were being denied free movement.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League leader, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in a statement urged India to take steps to create conducive atmosphere for resolving the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks so that permanent peace could be established in South Asia. “Withdrawal of troops, repeal of black laws, and release of pro-freedom leaders and activists besides an end to the state terrorism in Kashmir can be helpful towards resolving the lingering dispute,” he added.

He maintained that the mission of Kashmiri martyrs would be taken to its logical conclusion, come what may. Sheikh Yaqoob said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri people would definitely bring positive results soon and they would get rid of Indian bondage.
