Martyrs’ sacrifices centre-staged Kashmir globally: JKPL

Srinagar, February 14 : Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL) said that the martyrs’ sacrifices had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at international level and they would not be allowed to go waste.

The JKPL leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in a statement issued in Srinagar, paid glowing tributes to Ghulam Muhammad Bulla of Sopore on his 37th martyrdom anniversary. Ghulam Muhammad Bulla was arrested by Indian police and killed in custody on February 15, 1975 for leading a protest rally against Indra-Abdullah Accord in Sopore.

Waza said, "Kashmir is the core dispute between the two nuclear powers of the region. If the issue is not included in the agenda and there is no positive headway for its resolution, the talks are bound to fail."

He urged India to eschew its stubbornness and include the dispute in the forthcoming talks between Pakistan and India. “Right from 1947,India has been trying to suppress the voice of Kashmiris but neither they succeeded in the past, nor would in future,” he maintained.

Reiterating his demand for demilitarisation, Mukhtar Waza said, “Immediate and complete cessation of military and paramilitary actions against the civilian population in Jammu Kashmir, withdrawal of troops from the towns and villages, dismantling of bunkers and barricades, release of political prisoners and annulment of draconian laws are must for the protection of life and property of the people.”

He reiterated the Kashmiris’ pledge to continue the liberation struggle until its logical conclusion against all odds.
