Srinagar, Oct 16: Senior APHC Leader and Chairman of Jammu
and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, has said that the
permanent peace in South Asia is not possible without resolving the Kashmir
dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
Mukhtar Waza while addressing party workers and activists in
South Kashmir’s Islamabad Distrcit today, stressed that the United Nations
could play a constructive role in facilitating meaningful engagement and dialogue
between Pakistan, India and the Kashmiris for final resolution of the dispute.
“People of Jammu Kashmir are principle stake holders in the
dispute and any settlement of the dispute on Jammu Kashmir should satisfy the
aspirations of the people,’ Waza said.
“Peaceful resolution of the dispute of Jammu Kashmir is in
the interests of enduring regional peace and stability in south Asia besides in
the interests of economic development in the region,’ he said.
He said that both the countries have initiated talks at
various levels but they remain unsuccessful because the countries never
included kashmiris in those talks.
He stressed upon India and Pakistan to start a meaningful
dialogue process, as the dialogue process in the way by which Kashmir issue
could be resolved. He said that by this issue kashmiri people are suffering
from last 63 years and were badly affected.
He appealed the UN to impress upon India to revoke the
draconian laws like Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the state,
withdraw its troops and release all the illegally detained pro-liberation
leaders and activists including youth and minor boys which were arrested during
the summer uprising of 2010 street protests. He said that illegally detained pro-freedom
leaders and especially minor are being treated by inhuman acts.
He said that claims of India’s Zero tolerance in the valley
are proved to hoax as the human rights violations in the valley are increasing continuously
done by the Indian troops and other agencies of Indian government and also by
the machinery of state government leading to state terrorism in the valley.
He also appealed international human rights watch group to
send a team that will visit different jails in which Kashmiri pro-liberation
and kashmiri students have been illegally logged, in order to aware firstly themselves
and secondly aware world about the inhuman behavior faced by the political prisoners
of the valley and also took steps to impress upon India to stop this kind
inhuman behavior with the leaders and innocent students.
