Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, today held an extraordinary meeting at district office Islamabad has appealed the people to observe India’s Republic Day as black day.
While addressing in a meeting, senior APHC leader and vice Chairman of JKPL, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that the Kashmiris had been fighting for the right to self-determination and Indian Republic Day had no relevance in Jammu and Kashmir. He also castigated the puppet administration for subjecting people to harassment and intimidation in the name of so-called security measures. He said that the whole Jammu and Kashmir had been turned into military garrison and people are being denied free movement
Waza asked the Kashmiri people to observe India’s Republic Day on January 26 as black day to convey to the world community that New Delhi continued to deny them their inalienable right to self-determination.
He urged India to take steps to create conducive atmosphere for resolving the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks so that permanent peace could be established in South Asia. “Withdrawal of troops, repeal of black laws, and release of pro-freedom leaders and activists besides an end to the state terrorism in Kashmir can be helpful towards resolving the lingering dispute,” he added.
