JKPL welcomes resumption of Indo-Pak Dialogue

Senior Hurriyat Leader and vice chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, a constituent of All Partis Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza welcomes the resumption of stalled Indo-Pak dialogue process. "The Kashmiri people know that the resumption of the composite dialogue process between Pakistan and India is crucial for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. Any effort to derail the dialogue process goes against the interests of Kashmiri people. We hope that the true representatives of the Kashmiri people will also be associated with the dialogue process,".
Mukhtar Waza while addressing a public gathering after friday prayers at Durgund Anantnag has expressed serious concern over continued illegal detentions of pro-freedom leaders and activists who have been detained for participating in the peaceful struggle to achieve their right to self-determination. He said that the people of Kashmir had not been allowed to express their aspirations freely. “The occupation authorities were intimidating the people of territory through unlawful detentions and invocation of draconian laws,” he added.
He termed the detentions of pro-freedom leaders and activists as unjustified, undemocratic and a blatant violation of the basic human rights.
Waza has appealed the Amnesty International (AI) and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to take cognisance of the situation in kashmir and put pressure on India to stop gross human rights abuses.
