Senior APHC Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza was arrested by Indian armed forces and lodged in Dangerpora police station along with Shabir Ahmad Baba and Shabir Ahmad Naikoo when they were on their way to Islamabad town, where they had to address a public gathering. Chairman APHC Mirwaiz Sahab was placed under house arrest. It is pertinent to mention that Mirwaiz Umer Farooq & Mukhtar Waza along with all general council members had to address joint gathering at lalchowk Anantnag. Talking to media, the JKPL Acting Chairman, Mukhtar Waza deplored that India was not allowing the Kashmiris to adopt democratic and peaceful means to secure their right to self-determination.
JKPL strongly condemns the arrest of APHC leaders and said that the Indian authorities had enacted this drama to prevent the liberation leaders from reaching out to the people.
