Waza hails Pak high commissioner’s statement, says dialogue
is the only way forward
Srinagar, August 20, 2014
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza
on Wednesday hailed Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit’s statement in which
he said that Kashmiris were legitimate stakeholders of the Kashmir dispute and
Pakistan will continue to work with sincerity for the peaceful resolution of
the issue.
In a statement issued here, Waza said that statement of Pak
envoy is encouraging and full of reality which India has to accept if they want
to move forward.
“India was to shun its stagnant Kashmir policy if they want
the resolution of this decades old problem through peaceful means.” Waza said,
adding dialogue is the only way forward.
He said that calling off the talks has proved the stand of
pro-freedom leadership that India isn’t serious in resolving the Kashmir
dispute. He said that the calling off the talks has also proved that the bilateral
talks with yield nothing.
“Our stands is quite clear that if both the countries want
resolution of problems peacefully then they have to engage and involve the
pro-freedom leadership representing the collective pro-freedom sentiment and conscience
of oppressed Kashmiri people in the process for durable results otherwise it is
waste of time.” He said
He said that India must shun distancing itself from the
realities and should come forward for resolving the Kashmir dispute through
peaceful process in the larger interests of whole South Asian countries as War,
which can bring only destruction, isn’t the better option.
Waza said that both the countries have learned from the past
and hence they must not push themselves into a situation where war remains only
option. He said that the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue will only guarantee
normal bilateral relations and peaceful south Asia.
