Senior Hurriyat Conference Leader and acting chairman Peoples League Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has said that the US, which enjoys good relations with India, has the responsibility to play an "effective role" to find an amicable solution to the lingering Kashmir issue. Barrack Obama is aware that the normalization of Pakistan-India relations is a prerequisite for peace and progress in the region and he also knows that the Kashmir issue is the "main hurdle" in this regard, he said.
Mukhtar Waza strongly condemns the harassment of the families of Sikh community on Friday night at Hutmurah village in south Kashmir Anantnag District and North Kashmir Baramulla district allegedly by the army and RR, termed it a conspiracy to whip up communal conflicts. Waza appealed to the Sikh community to be cautious of the nefarious designs of various agencies who want to repeat Chattisingpora and wanted mass exodus of the minority community. “New Delhi is leaving no stone unturned to defame the sacred cause of Kashmiris. In 20th March 2001, during the visit of then US president Bill Clinton, 35 sikhs were massacred. The communal forces have been always targeting the minorities,” he added.
