Britain Should Help in Resolving Kashmir Issue: APHC

Britain has a moral responsibility to play an active role in seeking a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue, JKPL Acting chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza today said.

"The Kashmir issue is the legacy of the British rule and therefore it has the moral responsibility to play an active role along with the international community in seeking a peaceful solution to the problem," Waza said while interacting with a two member foreign delegation at APHC headquarters.

First Secretary in British High Commission (India) Victoria Whitford and political advisor Sushil A Aron visited the APHC headquarters at Rajbagh Srinagar..

The two officials held a nearly three hour-long meeting with the party leadership.

APHC Acting Chairman Prof. Abdul Gani Bhat, briefing the guests about the prevailing situation in the Kashmir Valley, said the issue needs immediate attention of the global community as it has become a flash point and a threat to peace in the sub-continent.

"The world community should use its influence with both India and Pakistan and persuade them to resolve the issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Kashmir, who are the basic party and victims of the conflict," Gani added.

"The Kashmiris are desirous of a peaceful solution to the issue in accordance to their wishes, but the world community has failed to fulfill their responsibility."
