Peoples League tempts focus of International HR organizations

Jammu Kashmir Peoples League convened an extraordinary meeting at its party headquarter Srinagar chaired by senior Hurriyat leader and acting chairman of PL Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with other senior Peoples League leaders which includes Gh. Qadir Rah, Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, Gh. Nabi Waseem. Imtiyaz Reshi, Afaaq Ahmad, Raouf Kashmiri, Umar Khalid, Tahir Hussain, Syed Bhat and Ali Mohammad. In a meeting a threadbare discussion was held on present political scenario of Kashmir. While addressing in a meeting Waza appeals to the international human rights organizations to take cognizance of stepped up human rights violations by Indian troops in Kashmir. Waza said that the acts of Indian state terrorism perpetrated against innocent Kashmiris were aimed at silencing their just voice for right to self-determination. Waza urges the United Nations and its member states to impress upon India to stop human rights violations in Kashmir. “The use of brute force by the troops cannot deter Kashmiris resolve to continue struggle against Indian bondage,” he maintained. Waza said that, on one side, the occupation authorities were claiming to take steps for improving the situation, but on the other, Kashmiri youth were being arrested and tortured in the interrogation centers without any justification. Waza urges India to lay-bare political will and address the 63 years old Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people. “The international community stands committed to the people of Kashmir and their right to self-determination and various prime ministers of India have promised at different times to give the people of Kashmir this right,” he added.

Speaking in a meeting Gh. Qadir Rah said, Kashmir is an internationally accepted disputed territory with which the future of millions of people is associated. Referring to the talks on Kashmir, Rah observed that such a process was suitable when troops were totally withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir, oppression put to an end and efforts made for the implementation of the right to self-determination of the people.

The participants of the meeting paid rich tributes to the Kashmiri people for carrying forward the ongoing liberation movement amid suppression by the government of India and the puppet administration of the Kashmir. They pointed out that Indian state terrorism had increased the number of widows, orphans and disabled persons in Kashmir. They said that dialogue between India & Pakistan will not bring any positive results without the serious talk on the solution of Kashmir issue. They said that these dialogues are just a show and these dialogues will neither bring the peace in Kashmir nor the friendship between two countries can be stabilized without the core issue of Kashmir. They said that killing of innocent civilians, rape and torture of civilians must stop, and the leadership of Kashmir should be given right to travel on both sides of Kashmir. They said that until the people of Kashmir are not given right to decide according to UN resolutions, there will be no lasting peace in the area.
