A high level delegation of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League visited residence of Abdul Majeed Rah, who was met with an accident at sopore a days before and succumbs in SKIMS, Srinagar where he was battle for his life for two days. While addressing in a condolence meeting at Model Town Sopore Senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman JKPL Mukhtar Ahmad Waza reiterating that the ongoing liberation movement will be taken to its logical conclusion and maintained that the Kashmir dispute can be resolved by implementing the relevant UN resolutions. Waza said that the people of Kashmiri had been rendering matchless sacrifices for securing their right to self-determination. He pointed out that it was the responsibility of India to honour the commitments made by its leaders before the UN to settle the dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris aspirations. The senior Hurriyat leader stated that for ensuring permanent peace in South Asia, settlement of the dispute over Kashmir was imperative, which had been cause of three wars between two nuclear neighbours, Pakistan and India. Rejecting the self-rule and autonomy proposals by pro-India parties, Waza urged them to join Hurriyat camp if they were sincere to find out a solution to the Kashmir dispute. SOLVING ISSUE OF KASHMIR KEY TO PEACE IN THE REGION: Peoples League

In prolongation to door to door campaign Senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Monday visited various places which include Sirgofara, Mattan and Walarhama district Islamabad. While addressing an impressive gatherings at different places Waza paid rich tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions who laid their lives in the desert of Karbala in Iraq some 1400 years early to uphold and safeguard the high values of Islam, humanism and righteousness. Mukhtar Waza reiterated that Karbala symbolizes the victory of truth over falsehood and enshrines the lesson that believers of truth stand firm on values despite hardships, tortures, bloodshed, barbarism and inhuman crimes committed against them.
Waza maintained that the issue of Kashmir can be resolved peacefully only, if three parties to the conflict, India, Pakistan and genuine representatives of people of Kashmir are given the chance to negotiate. It is high time that India must realize that issue of Kashmir is a festering wound in the south Asia, if not addressed seriously.
Mukhtar Waza has strongly condemned the use of brute force by Indian police personnel against peaceful Muharram processions in Srinagar and added that the presence of Indian armed forces in Jammu Kashmir is the root cause of human rights abuses in Kashmir.

Kashmiris struggling for right to self-determination: Sheikh Yaqoob

Senior APHC Leader and chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob said that India has forcibly occupied Jammu Kashmir and the people of Kashmir are struggling for securing right to self-determination.
Sheikh Yaqoob said that Indian police during last two decades had martyred more than one hundred thousand Kashmiris and over 10,000 had been disappeared in custody.
Sheikh Yaqoob said that the people of the Kashmir had rendered unprecedented and countless sacrifices for Kashmir cause and they would take the liberation movement to its logical end. The sacrifices of Kashmiri people would not go waste as the day is not far when they would get rid of Indian rulers, he added.
Sheikh Yaqoob appealed the people to further promote unity in their ranks for securing their inalienable right to self-determination.

Resolution of Kashmir imperative for peace in South Asian Region

In continuation to door to door campaign Senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Saturday visited Vessu, Qazigund district Islamabad. While addressing an impressive gathering Waza urged India to give up obstinacy and take positive steps for the resolution of Kashmir dispute through negotiable settlement, while taking aspirations of common Kashmiris into consideration. Expressing satisfaction over the realization of the international community that the Kashmir dispute needs to be resolved, without any further delay and only way for emancipation is to give people of Kashmir as a region the opportunity to decide their political future by their own will and consent in accordance with chapter-I, clause – 3 of UNO (Right to Self Determination), Waza Said..
“The settlement of the Kashmir dispute is imperative not only for South Asia but also for the world peace,” Mukhtar said, adding that the international human rights organizations are urged to send their representatives to Kashmir in order to take cognizance of the miserable plight of Kashmiri detainees languishing in different jails and interrogation centers, unmarked graves, extra-judicial killings, tortures, rapes and thefts
Mukhtar Waza maintained that Kashmir issue being more human than political, the world Samaritans must address the sufferings of naïve Kashmiris, so we must be having the criterion that let we not inherit Kashmir in bad state of affairs to upcoming generation.
Mukhtar Waza reiterated that sincere efforts of world powers especially America, without their polemics can bring the contending parties of Kashmir dispute to the reconciliation which will usher the way for the durable and dignified resolution of Kashmir.

CBI report a stage managed drama ..Peoples League

Senior Hurriyat Leader and chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in his statement has strongly condemn the report of Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) about the rape and murder of two Kashmiri women in Shopian, terming it as a drama to shield the men in uniform. Yaqoob said that the CBI in its report shielded the guilty people. He demanded a probe into the case by an international agency. Sheikh Yaqoob also appeals the world human rights organizations to probe the discovery of unknown graves in Kashmir. He said that the presence of Indian troops was the root cause of human rights abuses in Kashmir. He appeals the Amnesty International, Asia Watch and other humanitarian organizations to take cognizance of the situation. “The issues like the rape & murder, discovery of unmarked mass graves and disappearances must be probed by independent commission,” he maintained.
Meanwhile vice chairman JKPL Mukhtar Ahmad Waza while dismissing the CBI report regarding the rape and murder case of two women in Shopian, termed it unjust, unrealistic and baseless. “We had already expressed apprehension over the handing over of the case to CBI and had apprehended that the agency would protect the real guilty and accuse the eyewitnesses and innocents.”, Waza said. He said that the CBI had already lost its credibility and its investigation into the Shopian tragedy was just a drama to shield the men in uniform. He said that hoping justice from India was unwise as its occupation was only because of troops concentration.

PL leaders arrested by police in view of World Human Rights Day Demonstration

Jammu Kashmir peoples League staged a protest demonstration at Rajbagh Srinagar on the eve of World Human Rights Day. The protest demonstration was led by party Acting Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with Mohammad Ashraf Ved, Gh. Qadir Rah, Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, Gh. Nabi Waseem, Nazir Ahmad Khan, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi, Bilal Ahmad Sheikh, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Ashaq Hussain Naikoo, Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Shabir Ahmad Baba, Ashaq Hussain Khan and Shabir Ahmad besides other party activists. Later on a heavy contingent of police and para-military forces arrested all the leaders and were lodged at police station Rajbagh Srinagar.
Meanwhile chairman JKPL Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob has strongly condemned the arrest of Peoples League leaders and activists and said that such cowardice acts will not deter kashmiris for achieving their cherished goal.

Peoples League To Continue Efforts For Settling Kashmir

The PL lauded the role of Fazl Haq Qureshi in the ongoing movement. It deplored that whenever there was some progress towards the resolution of the dispute through peaceful means, certain individuals and agencies got unnerved and resorted to such dastardly acts to thwart the process.

Dialogue only way out says Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob

Senior Hurriyat leader and chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob strongly slams over the attack on Hurriyat executive Fazal Haq Querashi and said that we will not be cowed down by these attacks of cowards. Yaqoob reiterated that dialogue between India, Pakistan and the Kashmiri leadership is the only way-out. Whenever the Kashmir issue was at a crucial juncture, Sheikh said, different agencies would become active and create confusion and a negative impact on the masses with their activities. Fazl Haq Qureshi was attacked by blunt objects yesterday, after he was coming out of a mosque in Soura, where he had offered Maghrib prayers. He has got injuries in his skull and doctors have described his condition as precarious. Meanwhile a delegation of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League headed by Mukhtar Ahmad Waza visited SKIMS to enquire his health condition. Mukhtar Waza condemns the assassination attempt and added that it is a great tragedy. Waza reaffirmed its commitment to the dialogue process, saying they would not be cowed down by such attacks and the path of self-determination would be perused, come what may.

Senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza called upon the world community to impress upon India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris aspirations. An extra-ordinary meeting of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League was convened at its central office Srinagar which was chaired telephonically by senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Peoples League Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob. While addressing the get-together meeting telephonically Sheikh Yaqoob said that a just solution to the Kashmir dispute can be brought about through meaningful tripartite talks, participate by Pakistan, India and Kashmiris, history has proved that the dispute over Kashmir cannot be resolved through bilateral negotiations. Yaqoob reiterated that Kashmir was a political issue, which needed to be resolved through peaceful political means. Pakistan FM’s statement on Kashmir hailed: Sheikh Yaqoob

Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in a statement has welcomed the recent assertion of the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi that resolution of the Kashmir dispute is not possible without involving Pakistan. PL Chairman said history has proved that the dispute over Kashmir could not be resolved through bilateral negotiations. Sheikh Yaqoob reiterated that Kashmir is a political dispute, which should be resolved through tripartite talks, participated by Pakistan, India and the Kashmiris.

Waza demands withdrawal of Indian troops from town and villages, release of all prisoners and repeal of all draconian laws including Disturbed Areas Act, Public Safety Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act.

Kashmir solution only way for peace in SA: Sheikh Yaqoob

Islamabad, October 03 (KMS): The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob has said that the settlement of the Kashmir dispute through tripartite talks among Pakistan, India and Kashmiris’ genuine leadership is the only way for peace in the region.
Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in a statement in Islamabad said, Kashmir is the main hurdle in cordial relations between Pakistan and India and its amicable and peaceful solution can ensure peace in the world, particularly in South Asia.
The JKPL Chairman welcomed the decision of China for issuing stapled visas to Kashmiris on a separate sheet of paper. “It is good that they are issuing separate visas to Kashmiris, which indicated that China did not consider Jammu and Kashmir as a part of India,” he said adding that other countries should also follow the suit. Sheikh Yaqoob said that China had always supported the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and their struggle for right to self-determination.
The JKPL Chairman also expressed gratitude to the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) for appointing a special envoy on Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon the world community to put pressure on India to give Kashmiris their right to self-determination so that the long-standing dispute could be resolved.
On the other hand, the JKPL leader, Ghulam Nabi Waseem while addressing a public gathering at Brehama in Kupwara urged India to give up its rigid stance and aggressive polices on Kashmir and come to the negotiation table for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute. He said that the people of Kashmir had rendered countless sacrifices for achieving the right to self-determination and they would continue their liberation struggle till its logical conclusion.

SOLVE KASHMIR DISPUTE PEACEFULLY: Peoples League

Jammu Kashmir Peoples League today on Monday convened an immediate meeting at its party headquarters Rajbagh Srinagar which was chaired by partys Acting Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. In the meeting a frayed discussion was held on the current situation. The main objective of our organization is peaceful and meaningful dialogue between two countries and the Kashmiri people. This is possible only when statesman of both the countries will conduce towards it and make the programme fruitful while addressing in a quorum of senior Peoples league leaders which include by party’s General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Vaid, Gh. Qadir Rah, Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, Pervaiz Ahmad Dar and Gh. Nabi Waseem. 
  Mukhtar Waza reiterated that past history reveals many examples in which disputes have been resolved in peaceful manner. In a point reference of dispute between Germany and France. If we practice this smooth and fruitful ways for clearing the dispute of Jammu & Kashmir the results would be bright and both the countries will progress. If they instead of investing money on defense would use the same for the betterment of humanity and not for preparing materials for mass destruction. This will lead us to the development and prosperity.
 Mukhtar Waza maintained that for the sake of humanity and to respect human values: world powers are urged upon to intervene into the peaceful resolution of burning worldly issues like Kashmir, Palestine and Afghanistan.
 After meeting a delegation led by senior Peoples League leader Gh. Nabi Waseem visited the residence of Jabeena Akhter D/O Nazir Ahmad Bhat resident of Haripora Kupwara, who was critically injured in a firing by Indian security forces and lost his life after struggling for three days on Ist October 2009 at local hospital. Gh. Nabi Waseem offered heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family and said that despite India`s tall claims about the biggest democracy of the world contrary to it there in intolerant forces deputed in Kashmir have been left trigger free to render planned genocide in Kashmir and suppress the ongoing freedom struggle. 

PEOPLES LEAGUE OBSERVED YOM-E-TASEES

An extra ordinary meeting of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League was convened at party headquarters which was chaired by Executive Member of APHC and partys Acting Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza. In the meeting a threadbare discussion was held on the current situation. It is pertinent to mention that Jammu Kashmir Peoples league has been launched in 3rd October 1974 to give vent to the resistance movement by adopting the mode of political activism in terms of non-violence to press the demand of right to self determination in accordance with the UN resolutions which are the genesis of bonafide demand of common stock of people living in all the fours of Jammu Kashmir spread over an area of 2,22,236 Sq. Kms along with some expatriates. Peoples League from its day of inception is struggling to protect the cultural ethos of Kashmiris for which they identified world over for the peculiarity and party has always raised voice against moral degradation moreover prepare youth for cultural crossfire to remain agile, vigilant and meticulous. Peoples League believes in the fact that will allow the winds of modernization to enter the home of Kashmiris but not at the cost of their existence and identity. Mukhtar Waza while addressing the meeting said that Peoples League always stressed for developing scientific political approach for the ongoing resistance movement and the struggle will continue till to the cherished goal. Waza said that peoples league believe that meaningful talks only can help resolve the dispute and are ready to take the process to its logical end and warns that any delay in resolution of the Kashmir dispute could have serious repercussions. “If India and Pakistan keep talking only with each other, they can’t achieve any breakthrough. Kashmiris have borne the brunt of animosity between them. They are the principal party to the dispute and the two countries have to talk to them to achieve a lasting and amicable solution,” waza said.

General Secretary, Mohammad Ashraf sofi said “Our struggle is not against any nation, tribe, and religion or against the sovereignty of any country. But our struggle is the struggle for our rights”, adding “Kashmir movement does not belong to any particular individual. This movement belongs to the people of Jammu Kashmir and represents their wishes and aspirations.” He maintained that Martyrs are the precious assests of out nation (Kashmiris) who are our real heroes and their mission shall be carry forward till to the logical end come what may.
It is worth to mention that the meeting was attended by party’s General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sofi, Gh. Qadir Rah, Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, Pervaiz Ahmad Dar, Gh. Nabi Waseem and other senior Peoples league leaders.

Resolution of Kashmir only way for peace: PEOPLES LEAGUE

Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in a statement said that South Asian region is hostage to the unresolved Kashmir dispute and its peaceful resolution through uninterrupted dialogue between India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir is the only way forward.Yaqoob has also welcomed the decision of China for issuing stamped visas to Kashmiris on a separate sheet of paper and gratitude to the Organization of Islamic Conference for appointing special envoy on Jammu and Kashmir.China”s move of issuing separate hand written visas on loose sheets of paper is a welcome move. Other countries should also follow suit. It is good that they are making separate visas for Kashmiris, which indicated that China did not consider Jammu and Kashmir as a part of India, Sheikh Yaqoob added. APHC leader said that China had always supported the aspirations of the people of Kashmir and their struggle for right to self-determination. “The top leadership of China has always acknowledged Kashmir as an important player in Asia and particularly in South Asia”, he added. He called upon the world community to put pressure on India for giving right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir so that the long-standing dispute could be resolved and permanent peace could be established in South Asia. Meanwhile senior peoples league leader Gh. Nabi Waseem while addressing to a public gathering at central jamia masjid Brehama Kupwara said that India should give up its rigid and military might polices on Kashmir and should come to the negotiation table for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute so that permanent peace could come in the region.He said that the people of Kashmir had rendered countless sacrifices for achieving right to self-determination and they would continue their liberation struggle till its logical conclusion.

All disputes in South Asia are subject to the resolution of Kashmir: Peoples League

Senior Hurriyat Leader and chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob in a statement has said that the Kashmir squabble is the main cause of tension between two nuclear neighbopuring countries - India and Pakistan, which needs to be resolved as per wishes of Kashmiri people without any further delay. Sheikh Yaqoob asked India and Pakistan to shun the differences in the interest of people of two nations and take practical initiatives on priority basis to resolve the long pending Kashmir dispute. Yaqoob reiterated that all three parties of the dispute including Pakistan, India and the people of Jammu Kashmir should sit together and find an amicable and permanent solution to the problem. Yaqoob maintained that acceptable and durable resolution of Kashmir can draw a new era of hope, prosperity, development and mutual trust with unbeaten provincial cooperation with the flourishing arrangements of success.
Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob has appealed to the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and United Nations (UN) to use their moral and political influence to help resume the peace process for a just and honourable settlement of the Kashmir dispute and to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable right of self-determination

They reiterated that the toll of Orphans, Widows , Destitutes and a new category of “Half –Widows” has emerged at a large pace, since the onset of resistance struggle from 1989 in a new format , we as Muslims must seize the opportunity to prove a boon to relieve agony and the Aah of Kashmiri sufferers . They Maintained that Eid is not a mere celebration but the commemoration to renew the oath to perform excellent for the sake of Allah and contribute for the suffering humanity added that Let the Imams and Khatibs of all the Masjids, jamias and Eid Gahs pray for the complete liberation of Kashmir from the Indian enchainment along with terror and horror unleashed by its forces to suppress the genuine freedom struggle. They appealed the people to observe austerity while celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr and demonstrate solidarity with the families of those who lost their dear ones in the freedom struggle and also with those whose relatives are languishing in jails.
Mukhtar waza expresses deep sorrow and grief over the death of cousin brother of Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz who passed at his residence at Namblabal Pampore. Waza prayed that let the departed souls rest in peace and the next of kith and kin have the patience and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of the member of the family.

Adopt a Precise and Sincere Policy on Kashmir: Peoples League

Jammu Kashmir Peoples League convened a special prayer meet (Rasm-i-Charam) at the residence of Abdul Razzaq Bhat alias Razzaq Sopori, who breathed his last on Friday at his hometown Khawaja Gilgit Hamelina, Baghat Sopore. A High Level delegation of Peoples League, led by senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman of PL, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza along with Gh. Qadir Rah, Maqbool Sofi and Gh. Nabi Waseem, visited the residence of late Abdul Razzaq. The delegation paid rich tributes to the prominent liberation leader and prayed for the peace to departed soul and strength and courage to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.
Mukhtar Waza hailed the services of Sopori, which he had rendered for the Kashmir cause. “Sopori sahib was a glowing star in Kashmir’s political history and would remain alive in the hearts of Kashmiris for his steadfastness, sincerity and commitment to the freedom struggle, adding, the martyrdom of his son during the armed struggle was an ample proof of his deep rooted association with the ongoing struggle”, Waza said. 
Speaking at the condolence meeting led by APHC leader Mukhtar Waza said like the positive and clear policy of Pakistan, India should give up its traditional policy on Kashmir and adopt a clear-cut and sincere policy so that the peace process among the three concerned parties - India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir - could be taken to its logical conclusion. It is imperative for the resolution of the Kashmir issue that the ground situation should improve, but unfortunately the rights situation is getting worse day by day.
Expressing deep concern over the continued human rights violations in Kashmir, he asked India to stop blood bath of innocent Kashmiris, release the illegally detained liberation leaders so as to pave a way for the peaceful settlement of Kashmir issue.
Waza urges world community to help resolve Kashmir dispute, maintained that the Kashmir freedom leaders stands for a just, equitable and amicable settlement of dispute in line with Kashmiris’ aspirations.
It is worth to mention that Abdul Razzaq Sopori was third Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League.

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Executive Director, Kashmiri American Council/Kashmir Center said that Sheikh Abdul Aziz was a popular leader who was assassinated at the age of 52 when he was leading a peaceful procession in order to cross the Ceasefire Line a line that is in fact a line of conflict. Sheikh Sahib was gunned down by Indian soldiers along with 9 innocent Kashmiris because he wanted to remind the world about the right of self-determination that was agreed upon by both India and Pakistan, and championed by the democratic powers, including the United States.
Dr. Fai emphasized that in sharp contrast to many political giants, Sheikh Sahib was self effacing, not self aggrandizing. He taught unity and compromise with the wisdom that if we do not all hang together, we will assuredly all hang separately. It was his spectacular success in unifying various ranks that frightened the enemy into plotting his dastardly death in 2008.
The charismatic Sheikh Sahib was also imprisoned scores of times for the sole "crime" of speaking out the truth, never compromising his principles and calling for justice, said Fai.
The Executive Director warned that Kashmir problem has caused immense hardships to the people of the region of South Asia; the people of Kashmir in particular have been subjected to the worst kind of barbarous and inhuman treatment. Government of India should see the reason and take steps to resolve this question by accepting the APHCs demand of tripartite talks - Governments of India and Pakistan and the leadership of the people of Jammu & Kashmir - without further delay. Government of India should also listen to Indias prominent personalities, like Vir Sanghvi who wrote in Hindustan Times, If you believe in democracy, then giving Kashmiris the right to self-determination is the correct thing to do.
The people of Kashmir will never forget the selfless contribution and the tireless efforts of Sheikh Abdul Aziz. His efforts will remain forever a milestone in the history of the freedom struggle of Kashmir. APHC observe First martyrdoom of Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz

The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said that the first martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz will be observed across the Valley on August 11 in occupied Kashmir. According to Kashmir Media Service, special programmes would be organized to pay tributes to all those people who were martyred by Indian troops, last year, during peaceful demonstrations against transfer of Kashmiris land to non-Kashmiris.

Addressing a public gathering at Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar Mirwaiz said, “August 11 is historic day for us and APHC will remember senior APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz and other martyrs of 2008.” He said that seminars, rallies and special programs would be conducted on the day and for it a programme would soon be chalked out soon. “We lost so many lives including leader like Sheikh Abdul Aziz during the agitation last year and it is our moral responsibility to pay tributes to them. There were others who also laid down their lives,” he added. The APHC Chairman deplored the death of an Irrigation and Flood Control Department worker, Fayaz Ahmad Butt in an electrified wire fencing the camp of Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at Bemina. “It is tragic how Kashmiris are being killed in troopers related incidents but no one pays any attention to it. Such incidents will continue till Kashmir is not demilitarized,” he pointed out. Mirwaiz also flayed the killing of a father-son by unknown gunmen at Kellar in Shopain.

One Day Seminar organized by APHC at its party headquarters Rajbagh Srinagar in view of first anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz. While addressing at the seminar Executive Member and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza pays floral tributes to senior Hurriyat leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz on his first martyrdom anniversary. He reiterated that the sacrifices of the martyrs are assets for the liberation movement and will not be allowed to go waste, come what may. He strongly condemns the arrest of Pro-freedom leaders by Indian troops on 11 August. . He said that New Delhi could not curb the ongoing freedom struggle by using brute force against the people of Kashmir. Waza called upon the world community and international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to halt massive human rights violations in Kashmir and resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris. He said that the amicable solution to the Kashmir dispute was a must for bringing permanent peace in South Asia. 

Speakers at a seminar paid rich tributes to the martyred Hurriyat leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz and other Kashmiri martyrs. They urged India to take substantive steps towards resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations. The speakers included Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Fazl Haq Qureshi, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Muhammad Abdullah Tari.
Earlier, the APHC leaders donated blood at a donation camp held in connection with the martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz. Leaders which donate blood include Bilal Gani Lone, Shahid-ul-islam, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Qadir Rah, Ghulam Nabi Darzi, Pervaiz Ahmad Dar, Abdul Khaliq, Mohammad Altaf Dar, and Ghulam Mohi-u-din Shah.

Indo-Israeli intransigence (Indian forces killed Hurriyat Conference leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz)

Like Palestinian 'Intifada', the current phase of Kashmiri uprising began on August 12, 2008 when Indian forces killed Hurriyat Conference leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz who was protesting against the government decision to give land to the trust that runs Amarnath, a shrine of Hindus. While extremist Hindus favoured the decision, but due to its revocation, started protests and economic blockade of the Muslims, emulating the Israeli siege of Gaza which had resulted in starvation of many a Palestinians. However, under the new puppet regime in the occupied Kashmir, Indian brutalities are equal to those of Israel. In this regard, daily humiliations of the Kashmiris and Palestinians are a consistent feature of the Indo-Israeli intransigence.
While in his special address to the Muslim World on June 4 this year, Obama had called for a "new beginning between the United States and Muslims" by stating that tension "has been fed by colonialism that denied rights to many Muslims...without regard to their aspirations." Emphasising the two-nation solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Obama had vocally said: "It is time for Jewish settlements to stop."
Critics opined that Obama did not mention the Kashmir dispute at all. Nevertheless, during his election campaign, while realising the suppression of Kashmiri's struggle for independence as the root cause of terrorism in South Asia, he repeatedly remarked that America should help in resolving this old dispute. Quite contrarily, Holbrooke, special envoy of the US administration on Afghanistan and Pakistan had clarified on January 28 that he had no mandate to deal with Kashmir.
No doubt, Obama wants to improve the American image in the Muslim world by settling the issues of Kashmir and Palestine, but he seems helpless before the strong Indo-Israeli lobbies which play a key role in the foreign policy of the US. Obama is forced to implement the brutal policies of his predecessor, who had endangered the world including US interest by occupying Iraq and Afghanistan, due to these lobbies. He had encouraged Indo-Israeli intransigence in delaying the solution of Kashmir and Palestine. Indian and Israeli regimes had jumped upon the Bush's anti-terrorism bandwagon in crushing the freedom movements in these controlled territories. Since then, both the countries by considering the Muslims as their common enemy, signed several of agreements.
One of the main obstacles in the prolonged War on Terror including solution of Kashmir and Palestinian issues is the US-backed Hindu-Jewish communities which have made alliances in America and Europe and are tarnishing the image of all the Muslims in order to continue their state terrorism on the innocent Kashmiris and Palestinians.

One of the prominent Hurriyat Conference leaders, 55 year old Sheikh Abdul Aziz was
killed by the bullets of Indian paramilitary forces on 11^th August 2008 while leading a
peaceful public demonstration against the ‘economic blockade’ of the Kashmiri Muslims
being enforced by militant Indian Hindu groups allegedly with the tacit support of the
Indian government. He was born in 1952 in Namblabal, Pampore close to the capital
city Srinagar but in Pulwama district. Soon after passing his 10^th grade from a local
school, Aziz joined his father’s agriculture business including growing high yield saffron,
for which his hometown is famous throughout the Kashmir valley.

As a teenager, Aziz watched moe-e-muqqadus movement when millions of Kashmiris
came out on streets against the mysterious theft of highly revered holy relic of Prophet
Mohammad (SAW) from the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar. The agitation soon transformed
into pro-freedom public outpouring with millions of Kashmiris demanding freedom from India.
Although the relic was later recovered without ever revealing any culprits, it is generally
believed that the then Indian Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, himself a Kashmiri
Pandit was behind the conspiracy using it as a pretext to unseat the local Kashmiri Prime Minister.

Moe-e-Muqqadas movement renewed decades old Kashmiri demands for freedom,
giving inspiration to a new generation of Kashmiris including Aziz. In 1972 he joined
pro-freedom political group Young Men’s League that called for the Kashmiri right to
self-determination according to the UN Resolutions. He was soon targeted by the
police and his first arrest came at the age of 20 when he was booked under
the infamous and draconian National Security Act. At that time, he was the Block
Secretary of the organisation. In 1973 the Young Man’s League merged into other
pro-freedom groups forming the Jammu and Kashmir People’s League to which
Aziz remained associated with till his death. In 1986 he became the general secretary
of the People’s League, the responsibility he carried on till 1990, when amid massive
public resentment against the Indian rule; he ditched his political avatar and joined
the militant resistance movement. He became the chief commander of Al-Jihad, a
formidable militant group in early 1990s that was supported by his parent organisation,
Jammu and Kashmir People’s League.

Due to his involvement with the pro-freedom struggle, the arrests and prison sentences became a permanent fixture of Sheikh Aziz’s political life - he spent more than 15 years in prison under various charges including sedition, seeking to separate Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian control and waging a militant struggle etc. His longest spell of incarceration came on 21^st May 1993 when he was arrested as the chief commander of now defunct Al-Jehad and lasted till 27^th September 2000. Following his release after nearly nine years of gruelling prison life, Aziz re-joined political struggle but was again arrested on 1^st August 2001 for nearly three years and released in February 2004 at the peak of India-Pakistan peace process. After his release, he supported the peace process and called for peaceful solution of the Kashmir issue. He later visited Pakistan to encourage the ongoing India-Pakistan peace process and supported the end of hostilities. However, a year later, he was again arrested on 5^th February 2005 and released only last November. After his release this time, Aziz joined the ‘moderate’ faction of the Hurriyat Conference, a conglomerate of the pro-freedom Kashmiri groups and once again reiterated his demand for peaceful resolution of the Kashmir problem. However, as the current crisis that was triggered by the illegal transfer of Kashmiri land to a semi-government Hindu body - Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) unfolded, Aziz along with other Kashmiri leaders took a strong stand, keeping in view the strong public sentiment against it, who see the land transfer as a covert Indian plan to seek demographic changes in the Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir. Only days ago, Aziz was instrumental in bringing the two factions of the Hurriyat Conference together, forging a common Kashmiri response to the SASB controversy and therefore was seen unfavourably by both the local pro-Indian administration and the Indian state.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz is the second chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir People’s League to have been killed by the paramilitary forces. Earlier, Abdul Hamid Wani popularly known as S Hamid was killed in a staged encounter on April 19, 1998 at Ahmad Nagar on the outskirts of Srinagar. With his brutal death, Aziz will emerge as new ‘martyr’ of Kashmiri cause in league with Maqbool Bhat and may cause a serious blow to the current India-Pakistan peace process, further narrowing down chances of any rapprochement between the beleaguered Kashmiri nation and the increasingly militant Indian state.

Kashmir shuts on Sheikh’s death anniversary

The normal life in Kashmir was paralysed on Tuesday by the strike call given by Hurriyat Conference on the first death anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz while authorities placed most of the separatist leaders and activists under house arrest to prevent them from moving towards the Pampore residence of the slain leader, who was killed on August 11, 2008 in Uri. All shops and business establishments in City and other parts of Valley remained closed while traffic was off the roads. The government and semi-government offices, banks and educational institutions remained locked.
The authorities had placed almost all the top separatist leaders and activists including Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Agha Hassan Budgami, Bilal Lone, Shahid ul Islam, Zamrooda Habib and others under house arrest. Most of them were not allowed to offer special prayers at martyrs’ graveyard Eidgah.
The strength of police and paramilitary personnel in Srinagar was increased on Tuesday to prevent the separatist leaders from moving towards the Pampore residence of slain Hurriyat leader Sheikh Abdul Aziz. Aziz was killed in firing on protestors marching towards Muzaffarabad at Trichal, Uri on August 11, 2008.
The authorities also imposed security restrictions in several parts of the old city to prevent youth from taking to roads and staging pro-freedom and anti-India demonstrations.
However, some locals of Eidgah along with Peoples League chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Ashraf Vaid visited martyrs graveyard and offered Fateh Khawani. They paid floral tributes to Sheikh Aziz and others killed during land row last year. “Aziz sacrificed his life for a cause and we offered prayers to remember the great son of the soil,” said Shakeel Ahmed of Eidgah.
Although separatist leaders could not visit Pampore because of restrictions, the locals frequented the residence of Aziz throughout the day. “He was representative of our aspirations and made all of us proud. He was brave and never cared about consequences,” said a local resident Sheikh Mustafa.
PL chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, Mohammad Ashraf Vaid, Ghulam Qadir Rah and others were detained at Pampore police station while Sheikh Abdul Rashid was arrested and detained in Police station Rajbagh.
Yasmeena Raja was arrested by police on way to Pampore while Zafar Akbar Bhat along with several members was arrested near Qamarwari when they were heading towards martyrs graveyard Eidgah.
Police also raided the Hurriyat (M) Rajbagh headquarters and detained Manan Bukhari, Ghulam Nabi Waseem, Ghulam Nabi Zaki and few others in Rajbagh police station.
A Hurriyat (M) spokesman has strongly condemned the police action.

Kashmir shuts down for Sheikh Aziz

Responding to the call by pro-freedom camp, Kashmir observed a complete shutdown on Tuesday to pay homage to the slain separatist leader and executive member of Hurriyat Conference (M), Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, who was killed during the Muzaffarabad Chalo on this day last year. Dozens of senior pro-freedom activists were put under house arrest while several other activists were arrested to foil public rallies at Eidgah and Pampore.
All shops, business establishments, banks and educational institutions remained closed throughout the day while normal work at government offices was affected in the city and elsewhere across the valley. Public and private transport services were off the roads on most routes.
Sheikh was killed at Chahal Boniyar in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Varmul district when he was leading a massive procession towards Muzzafarabad. The march was to break the month long economic blockade of Kashmir by Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti, spearheading the agitation in Jammu over land transfer row.
Authorities had made heavy deployment of police and paramilitary CRPF in old city and other areas though there were no restrictions on civilian movement.
A complete shutdown was observed in Kulgam, Islamabad, Shopian and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir. The strike call evoked total response in north Kashmir districts of Varmul, Bandipora and Kupwara where normal life remained disrupted. Reports of stone pelting were received from Sopur and the adjoining areas in the morning.

CRACKDOWN ON SEPARATISTS
To foil the congregational Fateh Khwani at the grave of Sheikh Aziz at Eidgah here, several activists of Hurriyat Conference (M) were put under house arrest since yesterday evening. They include the acting chairman and chief spokesman of the party, Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Bilal Gani Lone, advocate Shahidul Islam, Aga Syed Hasan Al Mousvi Al Safvi, Javaid Ahmad Mir and Zamrooda Habib of Muslim Khawateen Markaz.
Dozens of activists led by Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, however, managed to reach Eidgah in the morning where they offered congregational Fateh Khwani.
A senior Hurriyat (M) activist Shahidul Islam told Greater Kashmir that police raided the party headquarters at Raj Bagh and arrested five activists.
“They were preparing for participation in the public rally at Pampore. One dozen party activists led by Zafar Akbar Bhat were arrested near Qamarwari when they were moving towards Eidgah. Besides, over a dozen activists including brother of Sheikh Aziz, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who were on their way to Pampore, were arrested near Dalgate,” he said.
The spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (G), Ayyaz Akbar, said party activist, Firdous Ahmad Shah, was arrested from his Abi Guzar residence this morning while as Fareeda Behanji was put under house arrest last evening.

RALLY AT PAMPORE
Amid restrictions, a delegation of Hurriyat Conference (G) activists led by the acting chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, Pir Safullah, reached Pampore where they addressed a public gathering. The delegation also visited the house of Sheikh Aziz to express solidarity with the family.

KAC HOMAGE
Meanwhile, Kashmiri American Council and Kashmir Center paid homage to Sheikh Abdul Aziz. In a statement executive director, Kashmiri American Council and Kashmir Center, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, said Sheikh Aziz was a popular leader. “He was gunned down because he wanted to remind the world about the right of self-determination of Kashmiris,” he said.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz: Man with a mission

Death is inevitable and every one has to taste it one or other day. But who live and fight for a cause are remembered even after they depart. Particularly those who gave their precious life while striving to take their nation out from the shackles of slavery and for the freedom of their motherland, they are glorified, eulogized and remembered as martyrs. They live in the hearts and minds of their fellow nation men and become a source of inspiration for their people and for those around the world who strive for their birth right of freedom. Kashmir’s history is full of such son’s of soil who stood firm with courage, dedication and commitment and laid their life for the sacred cause of independence of this occupied nation, Sheikh Aziz is one such bright star among the galaxy of martyrs.

Sheikh Aziz got emotionally attached with the liberation movement of Kashmir when he was just 20 years old, and started with as a student leader and worked with many students and youth organizations to pursue the cause to which he was completely wedded to. And in 80’s discharged his duty as leader of Peoples League in Pulwama. As and when nation and situation demanded he fulfilled his responsibility amicably joined the armed struggle in 90’s in a bid to highlight the Kashmir cause globally and to show the world that Kashmiris are not cowards but people who want to live with self respect and dignity and as free people in the comity of nations.

In 1998 he was taken as APHC executive member and there on carried forward his struggle for the unfettered and globally recognized right of self determination on political front. And had to face tremendous difficulties and obstacles and hardships in this path and had to spend almost 16 years of his life in different prisons and interrogation centers but he faced them all with great compassion and resilience. And always lead from the front.

In August 2008 the communal frenzy chauvinists who had gathered from all over India in Jammu enforced economic blockade of Kashmir to punish the Kashmiris who had successfully protested en-mass against the transfer of land to SASB (Shri Amarnath Shrine Board) as it was part of evil design to change the demography of Kashmir to perpetuate the status-quo. This had alarmed the followers of Indian Modii’sm to which they resorted to cruel blockade with the tactic support of Government and Intelligence agencies. It was once again Sheikh Aziz who lead the sea of people towards the Muzaffarabad on the call of coordination committee for Muzaffrabad march, in a move to smash away the bloody line that separates the Kashmiris forcibly, fully knowing the dangers on the path he was treading when others preferred to sit at their safe dens.

Thus he once again proved his unflinching commitment towards the liberation struggle of Kashmir while leading the lakhs of people peacefully towards the Muzaffarabad to trample the C.F.L under foot but that proved too unbearable to occupational and imperialistic powers who showered bullets which pierced his chest and other valiant protestors martyring nine people including Sheikh Aziz on spot besides wounding hundreds of others at Chayal Boniyar on 11th August 2008.

The calmness which Sheikh Aziz had on his face while he received bullets was the calmness of his fulfillment of the promise he had made before his nation to fight till the last drop of his blood, calmness of that he lived and is sacrificing his life for his motherland, calmness of that he was about to achieve victory through martyrdom.

The martyrdom of Sheikh Aziz and other 70 people who were martyred ruthlessly during last years agitation has infused new vigor and passion among people. The blood of martyred leader has ignited the revolution in the hearts and minds of Kashmiris which will slowly and steadily spell doom for the oppressors and pave way for the dawn of freedom of Kashmir. Kashmiris are destined to achieve their birth right as they have shown indomitable courage and steadfastness from more than four centuries and sacrificed lakhs of its son’s for achieving this target with Sheikh Aziz one of the leading lights who taught an undying lesson to his oppressed nation through his martyrdom. May Almighty accept the martyrdom of Sheikh Aziz and bless his soul with his choicest blessings, as in the words of a poet Sheikh Aziz emulated the same:

Zameen pyasi thi Lahoo pyila diya

Mujh par watan ka karz tha Jo mein ney chuka diya

Kashmir shuts to remember Aziz and other land-row martyrs

Srinagar: Kashmir valley observed a complete shutdown Tuesday in response to the strike call by Hurriyat Conference led Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and endorsed besides others by Hurriyat Conference (G), Hizbul Mujahideen and Lashker-e-Toiba.

Hurriyat Conference (M) had called for a complete strike to commemorate the first “martyrdom” anniversary of its senior leader and chairman of Peoples League, Sheikh Abdul Aziz besides the 62 other ‘martyrs’ who were killed on this day during the ‘Muzaffarabad Challo’ march called by traders and endorsed by pro-resistances organizations following the enforced blockade by Hindu fanatics in Jammu in wake of the controversial Amarnath land deal by the then government.

Reports reaching Press Bureau of India said that due to the strike, all shops, offices, most of the banks, patrol pumps, and other business establishments remained closed along with schools and other educational institutions in valley. Most of the government and semi-government offices were also closed while attendance was very thin in the offices which remained open. Public transport remained off the roads while private vehicular movement, although thin, continued across the valley.

Reports from old-city said that while there were no enforced restrictions by the authorities, a strengthened posse of police and paramilitary CRPF were deployed in the most parts including Nowhatta, Rajouri Kadal, Bohri Kadal and its adjoining areas.

Reports of strike were also received from all district headquarters and major town including Baramulla Bandipora and Kupwara in North Kashmir.

Sikh group backs Kashmiris’ demand

ISLAMABAD: Dal Khalsa, a Sikh political party in occupied Kashmir, has said that it will fully support the right to self-determination for Kashmiri people, Kashmir Media Service reported on Tuesday.

President and Secretary of the Sikh group, Harchranjit Singh and Kanwarpal Singh in a statement paid tributes to APHC leader, Sheikh Aziz and others for attainting martyrdom for the Kashmir cause.

They also condemned the Indian government and occupation authorities for crushing the non-violent movement with violent means.“The determination and steadfastness of Kashmiris would never allow the sacrifices of martyrs go vain,” they added.

Dal Khalsa leaders said Sheikh Aziz was a friend of Sikhs and supporter of Sikh cause for independence.“Aspirations of Kashmiris should be respected and they should be given free and fair opportunity to express their desire through the universally accepted right to self-determination,” the statement added.

The Sikh leaders condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Naeem Ahmad Khan and Muhammad Saleem Nunnaji.

Strike in IHK on Sheikh Aziz’s martyrdom anniversary

Srinagar, August 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete strike was observed, today, on the occasion of the first martyrdom anniversary of senior APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz. Call for the observance of the day had been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference which was supported by the forum patronised by senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the High Court Bar Association and other pro-liberation organisations.

The occupation authorities had besieged the Mazar-e-Shuhada, Eidgah in Srinagar, deploying heavy contingents of Indian troops to prevent people from assembling there to offer Fateha to Sheikh Abdul Aziz and other martyrs. Hurriyet leaders including Professor Abdul Ghani Butt and Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi were placed under house arrest. Indian troops had sealed all the roads leading to Pampore town and no one was allowed to move towards the town from Pulwama, Islamabad, Srinagar, Baramulla, Badgam and other cities and towns of the occupied territory.

Indian police personnel took into custody members of a delegation, headed by the Acting Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza, while on their way to Pampore. The police also arrested several people including Hurriyet leaders and activists after subjecting them to heavy lathi charge at different places.

The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while talking to the KMS in New Delhi, said that the supreme sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs including Sheikh Abdul Aziz would never go waste and the day was not far off when people of Kashmir would succeed in securing their right to self-determination. The APHC in a condolence meeting held at its headquarters in Srinagar reiterated the pledge to continue the martyrs’ mission till its logical conclusion.

Addressing a seminar in Jammu, the speakers including the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, paid glowing tributes to the martyred leader. The Executive Directors of Kashmir Centres at Washington and London, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl in their statements said that Kashmiri people would never forget the services of Sheikh Abdul Aziz for the Kashmir cause.

Speakers at a round table conference held by the APHC-AJK Chapter in Islamabad deplored the undemocratic restrictions on the peaceful activities of APHC in the occupied territory. It was presided over by the Acting Convenor, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar.

On the other hand, one youth was martyred, three Indian troops including a Junior Commissioned Officer were killed and another injured in a clash in the Keran area of Kupwara.

Kashmiris not to forget Sheikh Aziz’s sacrifice: Dr Fai

Washington, August 11 (KMS): Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, the Executive Director of Kashmir Centre Washington has paid homage to martyred APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz for his devotion in unflagging pursuit of a just and noble cause.

Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, in a statement issued in Washington in connection with the 1st martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz, reiterated to continue the mission of the martyrs till its logical end.

Dr Fai said that the martyred leader was imprisoned scores of times for the sole crime of speaking the truth, never compromising his principles and calling for justice. “His efforts will remain forever a milestone in the history of the freedom struggle of Kashmir,” he maintained.

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai said that the people of Kashmir would never forget the selfless contribution and the tireless efforts of Sheikh Abdul Aziz.

The Executive Director stressed the need to resolve the Kashmir dispute without further delay as it caused immense hardships to the people of South Asia in general and the people of Kashmir in particular. “Kashmiris have been subjected to the worst kind of barbarous and inhuman treatment. India should take steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute according to the aspirations of the people,” he added.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz remembered in held Kashmir

Jammu, August 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM), a constituent of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, arranged a seminar in memory of Shaheed-i-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz.

The JKPM Chairman, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, while addressing participants of the seminar, paid rich tributes to the martyred leader. He said that the APHC would continue the struggle to complete the mission of Sheikh Abdul Aziz and other martyrs.

Ghulam Ahmed Mir said that the sacrifices of Kashmiris had internationalised the Kashmir dispute and the day was not far away when the people of occupied Kashmir would get rid of Indian bondage.

Expressing concern over the massive human rights violations by Indian troops in the occupied territory, he said that in the presence of lakhs of Indian troops the honour and property of Kashmiris was not safe so the troops must be withdrawn from the valley.

The JKPM Chairman said that Kashmir was a political dispute and it could be resolved politically by holding talks. He also called upon the world community to play its role in resolving the long-standing dispute so that permanent peace could be maintained in South Asia.

The seminar was also addressed among others by advocate Abdul Majeed, Sajjad Ahmad, Muhammad Bashir, Chaudhry Akbar and Saleem Shahid.

Glowing tributes paid to Sheikh Abdul Aziz

Srinagar, August 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other pro-freedom leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to senior Hurriyet leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, on his first martyrdom anniversary.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said, the sacrifices of the martyrs are assets for the liberation movement and will not be allowed to go waste, come what may.
The illegally detained APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir National Front, Nayeem Ahmed Khan in a statement from Kathua Jail said that all the martyrs including Shaheed-e-Azeemat Sheikh Abdul Aziz were Kashmiris’ pride and asset and it was duty of the people to take the mission of martyrs to its logical end.
The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League in its statement said, “Sheikh Aziz led the Muzaffarabad Chalo protest rally on August 11, 2008. The rally was attended by lakhs of people. It was the time when fanatics in Jammu had started blockade of Jammu-Srinagar highway. When the rally reached Boniyar in tehsil Uri, Indian troops and police personnel opened fire on the rally as a result of which Sheikh Aziz and others achieved martyrdom.”
The forum patronised by senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani paying glowing tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz said, “Sheikh Aziz spent major part of his life in jails and finally achieved martyrdom,” adding, “We will continue our struggle till Kashmir achieves freedom.”
The Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and Democratic Political Movement, in their separate statements, lauded the contribution of Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz in the freedom struggle and his great sacrifice for the Kashmir cause.
Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front in its statement said, “Aziz and others laid down their lives for a cause and we pledge to take their mission to its logical conclusion. They have scripted history.” »

Strike in IHK tomorrow on Sheikh Aziz’s anniversary

Srinagar, August 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete strike will be observed, tomorrow, on the occasion of the first martyrdom anniversary of senior APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz. People will assemble at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar in the morning to offer Fateha to the martyred leader and other Kashmiri martyrs. A big public gathering will be held at Sheikh Aziz’s hometown, Pampore, which will be addressed by senior APHC leaders.
It was on August 11, last year, when Indian army personnel shot dead senior APHC leader, while he was leading a mammoth march towards the Line of Control in the aftermath of the economic blockade against the Kashmir Valley by the Hindu fanatic groups of Jammu.
Speakers at a seminar in Srinagar, organised by the Muslim League of occupied Kashmir, paid rich tributes to the martyred leader. They included, Mian Abdul Qayoom and Parvaiz Imroz. The Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee, in a statement said, Kashmiri people will not rest till the mission of martyrs is accomplished.
On the other hand, forceful protests broke out at Chak Keegam, Dragmulla in Kupwara after a civilian was shot at and injured by Indian troops. The protesters raised full-throated anti-India and pro-liberation slogans.
Informed sources in Srinagar said that Indian police personnel were arresting Kashmiri youth from different parts of the occupied territory and later killing them in fake encounters in the areas near the Line of Control.

ML organizes seminar to pay homage to Sheikh Aziz

Srinagar, August 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (ML) organized a seminar to pay glowing tributes to senior martyred APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
The seminar titled ‘Importance of August 11, in 62 years resistance movement”, with the President of High Court Bar Association, Mian Abdul Qayoom in chair, was organised in connection with the first martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
Speakers on the occasion described the August 11, as a milestone in the ongoing liberation movement. “On this day the Lakhs of Kashmiris made the beginning of their historical journey,” they said.

Kashmiris to take martyrs’ mission to its logical end: Yasmeen Raja

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the leader of All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC), Yasmeen Raja paid rich tributes to martyred senior Hurriyet leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz for his contribution and struggle for right to self-determination.
Yasmeen Raja in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the mission of martyrs would continue and their blood would definitely bring positives results. She said that Indian state terrorism could not affect the peaceful liberation struggle and the people of Kashmir would continue it till its logical conclusion.
The APHC leader said that the dispute over Kashmir was the main hurdle in cordial relations between Pakistan and India and its amicable settlement could bring permanent peace in South Asia, in particular, and world, in general. She appealed to the United Nations to help resolve the dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations. »

Strike to be observed on Tuesday in IHK

Srinagar, August 09 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the first martyrdom anniversary of APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, on Tuesday, will be marked with complete strike, seminars and a massive public gathering to be addressed by senior Hurriyet leaders including the Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Call for the observance of the day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference and supported by the forum patronised by senior kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the High Court Bar Association and other pro-liberation organisations.
It was on August 11, last year, when Indian army personnel targeted senior APHC leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, shooting him dead, while he was leading a mammoth march towards the Line of Control.
On the other hand, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two more innocent Kashmiri youth at Palang in Keran. One trooper was killed in an attack at Malak Post in Kupwara. Four persons including two troopers were injured in a grenade blast at Habba Kadal in Srinagar. Residents of the area told media men that after the blast, the troopers barged into several houses, smashed windowpanes, ransacked household goods and beat up inmates.
Illegally detained leader of JKLF-R, Muhammad Saleem Nunnaji in a statement from Udhampur Jail, paying glowing tributes to Sheikh Abdul Aziz, said that Kashmiri martyrs’ mission would be accomplished at all costs.
In New Delhi, a resolution passed by the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat, an umbrella body of Indian Muslim organisations, in a meeting of its working committee, demanded revocation of black laws and withdrawal of troops from civilian areas of occupied Kashmir. »
