PEOPLES LEAGUE CONVENES SEMINAR AT KUPWARA, KASHMIR

Jammu Kashmir Peoples League convened a one day seminar at Historical Jamia Masjid Kupwara t JAmia under the theme "Kashmir Imbroglio & its future and Remember Martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz" which was presided over by Executive Member and Acting Chairman Peoples League Mukhtar Ahmad Waza.
While speaking on the Seminar Mukhtar Ahmad Waza said that Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz was a committed and dedicated pro-freedom leader whose sacrifice has given a new dimension to the ongoing Kashmir freedom struggle.
"His mission shall be taken to the logical conclusion utterly," Mukhtar Waza said.
He maintained “Talks between India and Pakistan can be fruitful if both the countries focus to resolve Kashmir. “The other issues, which ‘stem’ from the core issue, would be solved automatically once Kashmir is resolved”. Stating that Kashmir is a vexed issue, he said, “India has to show seriousness and take bold steps to normalize the ground situation in Kashmir and should release all the prisoners languishing in different Indian jails”. Mukhtar Waza said “The meeting between heads of states of India and Pakistan is a good omen but for the resolution of Kashmir issue the involvement of Kashmiris is a must”. added that, “India and Pakistan cannot address the issue on their own as it involved the future of people of the Jammu Kashmir”.Mukhtar Waza said that in view of present economic world situation it is obligatory upon those developed countries who claim to be the champions of democracy to help for ending up all the predicaments and core issues which exist on the globe. Taking stock of the Asian situation the two core issues Palestine and Kashmir are the bone of contention between various countries , which need to be addressed -so as to give peace a chance to prevail , no matter India is a young democracy and Pakistan is trying to establish the institutions of democracy firmly -the balance of power between Indian and Pakistan is apposite` therefore both the countries must learn to live like responsible neighbors and not to give third country to haunt their state affair - who comes with the vested interests : for that both the countries are urged upon to develop a mechanism- so that an amicable, acceptable and durable solution of Kashmir is evolved: which will respect the sentiments, and aspirations of common stock of people of Jammu Kashmir, Waza said.
Mukhtar Waza called upon the international community to continue to highlight the human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian military and Para-military forces in Kashmir and to impress upon the government of India to allow an independent and impartial investigation of the mass grave sites in the region. He said that the Kashmir Centre would continue to interact with the Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances to ensure that the families of the victims could finally had the answers that they deservedHe urged the international human rights organizations to send a fact-finding mission to enquire about the human rights violations being committed by Indian troops in the region.
The seminar was attended by senior peoples league leaders which include PL General Secretary Mohammad Ashraf Sofi, Ghulam Nabi Darzi, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Ghulam Qadir Rah and other activists and workers.
