Peoples League welcomes Qureshi’s speech on Kashmir

Senior Hurriyat Conference Leader and Acting Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza has welcomed the statement of Pakistan foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi that “Kashmir issue was a time bomb for south Asia,” terming it accurate and matter-of-fact.

Mukhtar Waza has said that Kashmir dispute had been pending for last several decade and its amicable solution could bring permanent peace in the region. He said that unresolved Kashmir possessed a serious intimidation to the regional peace.

Mukhtar Waza has appealed to the US President, Barack Obama to impress upon India to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. He said that during his visit to India, the US president must prioritise the Kashmir dispute in his talks with the Indian leadership to ensure peace and stability in South Asia.

Meanwhile Peoples League paid glowing tributes to 43 bejbehara martyrs who have sacrifices their precious lives on October, 22, 1993 when they were part of a demonstration, protesting against the Hazratbal shrine siege by the army. Forty-three innocents lost their lives while more than 200 were injured among whom many were rendered physically challenged while those who survived are yet to forget the horrific incident. Peoples League maintained that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had rendered matchless and unprecedented sacrifices for liberation and India could not suppress the movement through use of brute force.

  1. Really Kashmir dispute is catastrophe for India and Pakistan, if they fail to resolve it.
