JKPL demands withdrawal of AFSPA, release of political prisoners

In continuation to door to door campaign Senior Hurriyat Leader and Acting Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza on Sunday visited Kulgam of district Islamabad. While addressing an impressive gathering Mukhtar Waza said repealing of 'black laws', release of political prisoners, and accountability for human rights violations and 'demilitarization' of Kashmir were necessary to solve the impasse.

Waza said the solution to Kashmir issue would not be achieved unless India and Pakistan addressed the grievances and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. '' Kashmir is a political issue, not a religious one, and it should be solved politically, taking into confidence the sentiment of 'freedom' being expressed by the people of the valley,'' he observed.

Waza has urged the Amnesty International to help in release of over 1500 Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders, who have been arrested during the present uprising in Kashmir.
