Waza put under house arrest in Islamabad, people’s league condemns police action

Srinagar, April 18, 2012: Senior Hurriyat Leader and Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League, Mukthar Ahmad Waza was today put under house arrest in his residence at Islamabad by police, as he was scheduled to visit martyrs graveyard Srinagar to address a gathering and to pay glowing tributes to Shaheed-e-Inkilaab (Martyr of Revolution) S. Hamid Wani.

Mukthar Ahmad waza has condemned the action of police and said that there is no freedom for political workers in carrying out their political activities in the valley.

Waza in a telephonic speech while paying glowing tributes to S.Hamid Wani said. “Shaheed-e-Inkilaab (Martyr of Revolution) S. Hamid Wani was the fonder member of APHC (M) and Jammu Kashmir Peoples Leauge and was among the frontline Pro-freedom leaders of 70’s, who martyarded by Indian police.” Adding that the blood of martyrs will not allowed going waste.

He said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs had centre-staged the Kashmir dispute at the international level and scarifies of innocent Kashmiri people will not be allowed to go in vain.

He reiterated the pledge to continue the liberation struggle, despite all odds and appealed international community to impress upon India

He said that India’s claim of zero tolerance against rights abuse proved to be a hoax in the backdrop of fake encounters and targeted killing of innocent Kashmiris over the past years.

Waza urged India to stop the rights abuse, withdraw its troops and repeal all black laws from the territory before initiating meaningful talks on Kashmir and maintained that the easiest solution available to resolve the 63-year-old dispute was implementation of the resolutions passed by the United Nations.

He said that the people’s league advocates right from 1974 that Kashmiri should be given right to self determination and will continue to struggle for the same cause

Meanwhile a delegation of Peoples League activist visited martyr’s grave yard Srinagar and paid homage to S. Hamid wani. Delegation also visited the house of martyr and showed their heart felt sympathies to the bereaved family
