Srinagar, July 23, 2015
Senior Hurriyat leader and Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Vice Chairman Mohd Yaseen Attie Thursday condemned Rajouri incident in which some miscreants burned a flag on which ‘Kalima Tayyaba’ was written.
In an issued statement, Vice Chairman Mohd Yaseen Attie slammed authorities for using excessive force on Muslims who are protesting against the incident from past three days and said that instead of punishing the miscreants, authorities were punishing Muslims.
Attie said that miscreants on behest of communal forces are trying to provoke Muslims in the Chenab region which is shameful and at the same time unacceptable.
Kalima Tayyiba is the basis of Islam and no Muslim in the world will tolerate its disrepute. Every Muslim is ready to die for its honor,” Mohd Yaseen said in the statement,
Accusing government of giving a free hand to the communal forces in Jammu to harass the Muslims, he said that since the new government is the state has taken over, the anti-Islamic activities are being promoted by the authorities under a well planned strategy particularly in Chenab region which exposes the claims of India being a secular country.
Yaseen also condemned imposition of curfew, restrictions and shutting down of cellular services including internet in the Rajouri district and said that people mostly Muslims who have shown resentment against the incident are being harassed and victimized. “This is the worst kind of state terrorism being unleashed on Muslims in the state,” he added.
He expressed sympathy with the Muslims of the region and assured full support to them. He asked international human rights organizations and others to take a serious note of the prevailing situation.
Meanwhile, Chairman Jammu Kashmir Peoples League and senior AJK-APHC leader Sheikh Mohmmad Yaqoob also condemned the incident and said that disrespect to Islam has exposed India internationally.
“First they harassed minorities in New Delhi and other states of India and now they have started implementing the same agenda in Muslim majority state under which Muslims having majority are being victimized,” Yaqoob said.
