Sheikh Yaqoob, Mohd Yaseen condemns fresh arrest spree
Demands unconditional release of detained before Eid
Srinagar, July 6, 2015
Senior Pro-freedom leader and Jammu Kashmir Peoples League Chairman Sheikh Mohd Yaqoob and Vice Chairman Mohd Yaseen Attie on Monday condemned the fresh arrest spree and demanded unconditional release of youths detained in Islamabad, Srinagar, Safakadal and other areas of Kashmir.
Both the leaders in joint statement issued here denounced detention of youths in every hook and corner of Kashmir from past days during nocturnal raids.
They said that security forces have lashed a reign of terror among Kashmiri youth and pro-freedom political activists. “Innocent youth are being detained to crush the pro-freedom sentiment among them,” they said while condemning misbehavior meted out to senior pro-freedom leaders in custody.

Sheikh Mohd Yaqoob said that imprisoning innocent youth in the Holy month of Ramadan can’t crush the ongoing freedom movement but will strength the freedom struggle.
He said that such actions had exposed India’s claims of being a democratic country.
Demanding unconditional release of detained youth before Eid festive, they said that unwarranted detention of innocents; pro-freedom activists and leaders were unacceptable.
Leaders also condemned the harsh actions of the police during which they beat up innocent persons, use teargas shells and other deadly gases against poor people particularly youth and women. He urged the international human rights organizations to take strong note of the recent arrest spree of innocent youth in Kashmir and urged United Nations to take steps towards settling the lingering dispute through meaningful tripartite dialogue as per the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
