APHC-AJK pays homage to Kashmiri martyrs

Islamabad, May 21: Pledging to take the ongoing struggle to its logical end, Kashmiri leaders from both sides of line of control on Tuesday at a seminar emphasized the need for unity to achieve the “cherished goal of freedom.” The leaders urged the international community to play its role for a just and honourable solution of Kashmir dispute, and asked India to repeal “draconian laws” in Kashmir.Presided over by the AJK premier Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, the seminar was held to commemorate the martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Milat Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, Shaheed-e-Hurriyat, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, and Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz. Besides the representatives of both the factions of Hurriyat Conference, the seminar was attended by representatives of Kashmiri community based in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Former chairman of the APHC, Moulana Abass Ansari, who arrived here yesterday, was special guest on the occasion. The speakers while highlighting the supreme sacrifices of the Hurriyat stalwarts maintained that their contribution in every sphere of life was highly commendable. Terming them as pioneers of the rights movement the speakers pointed out that the deceased leaders had done their job and now it was the prime responsibility of the movement’s leadership to carry out the mission of martyrs’ in letter and spirit.Stressing the need for complete unity, they said it was need of the hour that all the freedom loving forces should forge unity and set their priorities right keeping in view the larger interest of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan, while paying rich tributes to Kashmiri people, said that the people and the government of AJK would always stand by their brethren fighting for their legitimate and just cause. The others, who spoke on the occasion included, the former AJK premier, Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan; Moulana Abass Ansari; Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, convener APHC (M) Pak chapter; JKPL Chairman Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob, MC leader Raja Farooq Hyder; Muhammad Farooq Rehmani convener APHC (G) Pak chapter; JKLF leader Rafique Ahmed Dar; Jamaat leader Ghulam Nabi Nowsheri; Advocate Pervez Ahmed Shah; Syed Yousuf Naseem; and Faiz Naqashbandi. The participants adopted several resolutions, urging world to play pivotal role in seeking a just and honorable solution of Kashmir issue peacefully. The resolutions said dialogue was essential to seek solution to all outstanding issue including the core issue of Kashmir to ensure permanent peace in the region.
