Liberation struggle to continue till its success: Sheikh Yaqoob

The Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob has pledged to continue freedom struggle till its complete success. Yaqoob in a statement said that the Peoples League was not against democratic doctrines. “We asked people to stay away from election process with the intention that democratic norms should be well defined and meant to solve the dispute.
He termed the elections as a meaningless exercise and said that PL wanted to settle the Kashmir dispute through meaningful dialogue but India was using delaying tactics and didn’t come to the negotiation table.
He said that liberation leaders had to advocate the Kashmir issue effectively and intelligently as consensus was evolving in the international community to resolve the long-pending dispute.
About the military presence in the Kashmir, Sheikh Yaqoob said, “India is not here because of development or pro-India politicians but it is here only because of presence of lakhs of its troops.”
The PL Chairman said that New Delhi was creating a wrong perception in the world about the struggle of Kashmiris and had been misinforming the world community. “Boycotting the elections, which India holds in Kashmir on the basis of its might and by deploying lakhs of Indian troops, Kashmiris want to assert that Kashmir dispute needs to be resolved before holding any elections in Kashmir," Sheikh Yaqoob maintained.
He appealed the people to massively attend the Thursday Eidgah March, the death anniversaries of Maulvi Mohammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone. He said that the basic reason of the observance of Martyrdom Week was that the new generation was fully made aware about the sacrifices of the people for a goal, which was yet to be achieved.
Sheikh Yaqoob also maintained that the 1st martyrdom of Shaheed-e-Azeemat, Sheikh Abdul Aziz must be also commemorated in same style
