First martyrdom anniversary of Sheikh Aziz on Tuesday

Srinagar, August 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the first martyrdom anniversary of the prominent Hurriyet leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz will be marked with complete strike, rallies and seminars on Tuesday, August 11. This was announced by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyet Conference, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in Srinagar, today.
He said, on the day, a big public gathering will be held in Pampore, the hometown of the martyred leader, and on the following day a seminar will be organised at the APHC Headquarters.
Talking to media men in Srinagar, today, the APHC Chairman urged India to take steps to create conducive atmosphere for resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with Kashmiris’ aspirations.
On the other hand, the forum patronised by senior Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani in its statement called upon the people to hold peaceful protest demonstrations, tomorrow, after Juma prayers for release of all illegally detained Hurriyet leaders.
Indian police arrested the Acting Chairman of Muslim League of Jammu and Kashmir, Abdul Ahad Para from his party office in Srinagar. An Indian trooper was killed while three others including a Junior Commissioned Officer were injured in an attack at Tangdhar in Kupwara.
A delegation of the APHC-AJK Chapter’s Executive Council, led by the Acting Convenor, Mehmood Ahmad Saghar, called on the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan at Kashmir House in Islamabad today. The delegation apprised the Prime Minister about the latest situation of occupied Kashmir besides the massive human rights violations by Indian troops and the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders. »
