Senior APHC Leader and Chairman of JKPL, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob welcomes Ban’s Kashmir statement

Senior APHC Leader and Chairman of Jammu Kashmir Peoples League, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob has welcomed the declarations adopted by the OIC Foreign Ministers Kashmir Contact Group which stresses on the need of resolving Kashmir dispute peacefully and amicably and urges international community to exert itself and initiate urgent steps for safeguarding the human rights of Kashmiris including their right to self-determination.

Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob said that resolution of Kashmir forms the key to the permanent and long lasting peace to the entire sub-continent. But he maintained that any solution arrived which will be devoid of national aspirations of people of Kashmir won’t be acceptable to the Kashmiris as they are primary stake holders and prime party to the dispute.

OIC contact group has also asked India to enter into a constructive, sustained and result-oriented dialogue with Pakistan to resolve all outstanding issues including the core dispute over Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob has castigated authorities for imposing stringent curfew all across the valley which has resulted into shortage of essential commodities, medicines, milk and baby food. He termed it as collective punishment meted to Kashmiris for raising voice for their birth right of freedom.
