Black Laws Were The Root Cause Of Human Rights Violations In Kashmir: Jkpl

In an extra ordinary meeting held at Peoples League head office Rajbagh Srinagar today under the supervision of party’s chief organizer Mr. Pervaiz Ahmad Dar and attended by Ghulam Qadir Rah, Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, Ghulam Nabi Waseem, Shakeel- ul Rehman, Imtiyaz Ahmad, Javeed Ahmad and other leaders. While addressing in a meeting Pervaiz Ahmad said that Kashmir is not a land or border issue but a political and human issue, which needs to be resolved politically according to the aspirations of people of Kashmir. “Peace cannot be ensured in the entire region until the lingering dispute is resolved,” he maintained. Dar appeals to the world powers to use their moral and political influence to help resume the peace process for a just and honorable settlement of the dispute over Kashmir and to grant the people of Kashmir their inalienable right of self-determination. The party demands withdrawal of Indian troops from Kashmir, release of all prisoners and repeal of all draconian laws including Disturbed Areas Act, Public Safety Act and Armed Forces Special Powers Act. PL appeals people to come and join hands and strengthens the organization.

Meanwhile Acting Chairman Mukhtar Ahmad Waza appeals the world community to put pressure on India to implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir so that the dispute could amicably be resolved. He said that Pakistan had been taking sincere and serious steps for the settlement of the conflict, however, he deplored that the rigid stance of New Delhi towards the dispute was the main hurdle in its peaceful solution. Waza said that the draconian laws like AFSPA had empowered Indian troops to commit atrocities on innocent people of Kashmir with impunity. He said that these black laws were the root cause of human rights violations, rape, arbitrary detention and enforced disappearances in Kashmir.

Waza demanded of the world community and international human rights organizations to put pressure on India to stop massive rights abuses in Kashmir and resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations.
